Asbestos Abatement

What Is Asbestos?

Asbestos is a fibrous mineral found in many building materials. Asbestos fibers are very brittle and easy to break off. When asbestos containing materials are damaged microscopic fibers are released into the air. When inhaled these fibers pose serious health risks. We remove any asbestos prior to working on any project, including renovation or demolition, to save you, your family, or your employees from the possible health threats of exposure. When BDS goes to a site, our state certified inspectors assess the situation to come up with the safest and cost effective course of action.

Abatement

Once the asbestos materials have been identified, they may require removal. BDS Environmental is a State of Michigan certified Asbestos Abatement Contractor, license number C35253. All of our technicians are properly trained and certified by the State of Michigan to remove asbestos. BDS takes pride in removing asbestos in accordance to all applicable OSHA and EPA requirements. There are three major phases to asbestos abatement work:

          1.   Set up of containment or regulated area;

          2.   Removal of asbestos materials within the contained area; and

          3.   Final cleaning and clearance air sampling.

BDS will thoroughly explain each step of the abatement process and show the building owner all of the engineering controls that are used to prevent fiber release. BDS takes every precaution to maintain a safe working environment and to leave the building cleaner than when we arrived. A letter of completion along with final clearance air sampling results is provided to the customer once the abatement project has been fully completed.
